Introduction

This resource is intended for international Higher and Further Education institutions who wish to cooperate with recognised British Universities or Colleges in programme validation, franchising and/or to enable their students to complete their studies wholy or partially in the UK. 

British Universities and Colleges' operations are enhanced and regulated by a number of government departments, agencies and bodies, such as Department for Education and Skills, Higher Education Funding Council and Quality Assurance Agency. These will also affect their overseas activities. The following paragraphs are designed to help you to understand the basic frameworks and standards you may be expected to follow in your collaboration with your British counterparts. Please, read them carefully and feel free to contact any of the institutions introduced below or shown here for further information and discussions you may require.

Teaching, Learning and Assessment

If the award will be delivered by your Institution wholly or to prepare your students for entry a part of the programme at a British Institution, you may be asked to provided evidence of the following measures linked to a few examples of resources currently available from Finntrack:

Background to your Institution -

Legal Status and Recognition by the Government, Strategic Plan (Example: Cardiff University, UK), Turnover and Sources of Income, Prospectus or Organisational Brochure (Example: University of Huddersfield)), Student Numbers, Staffing (both Academic and Administrative), Organisational Structure showing Key Responsibilities.

Learning Environment and Outcomes

Quality Assurance

Typical discussion topics include: Monitoring and Evaluation of Programmes (Assessment Boards, Programme Committees, External Examiners), How Student Feedback is Collected and Evaluated, How the Assessment Processes are administered (internal and external moderation).
